SYBS

TICKETS FOR Y Lle Da | The Good Place Festival Tenby MARCH 27 & 28. MUSIC FESTIVAL IN TENBY

SYBS are a bilingual indie rock/post punk band hailing from Cardiff, South Wales. Beginning with the nucleus of lifelong friends Osian Llyr and Herbie Powell, their first murmurings begun as far back as 2015, gradually morphing through various stylistic and lineup changes until finally settling into the rough and ready garage punk formation of 2017. The mission of this first incarnation was to inject the Welsh language scene with an urgency they felt was missing at the time, making upfor technical chops with a vow to always be the loudest most uncompromising band on the bill.

SYBS built a reputable presence in the Welsh music scene, going on to win Radio Cymru’s battle of the bands 2018, finding a home on Libertino Records, and winning Radio Cymru’s single of the year with their wonky power pop debut, Paid Gofyn Pam.

The band came into their own in the following years, releasing a string of dance tinged singles through lockdown, and emerging with their acclaimed debut album Olew Nadroedd in 2024. The album blends punk energy, percussive dance rhythms, noise soaked, sugary pop hooks and psychedelic drone experiments; narrated with bilingual, politically charged, surrealistic lyrics.

The band now consists of Osian, Herbie and drummer Dafydd Evans. Their new music is simultaneously more uncompromising yet more tender and personal than ever before, and is waiting to be unleashed on to the ever-changing and vibrant Welsh music landscape.

SYBS perform at The Dogs Home on Friday 27 March. Schedule coming soon.
